FRENCH ROAD, SINGAPORE
The design of the cafe draws inspiration primarily from the neighbourhood, site context and brief provided.
Drawing reference from the industrial nature of the neighbourhood influenced the concise palette of materials and elements within the space. Black painted mild steel accents the furniture while perforated panels line the counter and wall to display decorative items. The concrete floor and safety glass enhances the overall aesthetic.
Traditional glass jars were re-purposed as light fittings and acts as the primary feature to draw interest from the street.
The cafe was envisioned as a warm and cosy space with a casual almost homely vibe to it, where people could just soak in a lazy afternoon.
